Yep.. some people in the military do not want to fight and are leaving..

It bothers me though.. Because even if this war is unjust.. when you sign up to join the military.. this is what you have to do, regardless if you agree with it or not

Now, if the draft were re-instated.. i would understand people wanting to head to canada to avoid that

What's the deal with being a "conscientious objector" and how would I go about being one when the draft is reinstated if Bush wins?

I really doubt they'll allow conscientious objector status for draftees, like that'll ever happen. Why the hell would we need the draft, when we've got more than enough soldiers now?

I suspect these folks are running to Canada because they feel Canada will be more sympathetic to their plight, and won't extradite them back to the USA to face desertion charges.

Warned you we tried.
Listen you did not.
Now screwed we all will be.

The conscientious objector clause in the proposed draft bill says that any application for objector status would be decided by... guess who? Fucko the Clown... I mean the President.

How many objectors do you think Bush will let go? Not many. This new draft proposal gives almost compleate power to the president. Even if you graduate high school and want to go on to college... they won't let you untill after you serve your time. If adopted, every single man and woman in the united states would have to serve in the millitary after high school. How fucked up is that?

Well, we have way more troops deployed than we estimated, troops that had been promised by the Pentagon that their tours wouldn't last longer than a year are being kept there, they're sending 20,000 more troops to Iraq, the 24,000 foreign troops are going to be going home soon, there's the most resistance there than since we got there, things in Afghanistan aren't any better...

We'll just have to see after the June 30 deadline.

Our government is responding to this "uprising" in a similar manner that Saddam has. Hypocrites. This is wrong. Why are we dropping bombs on a city? If there were enough troops, why isn't the pres. keeping his promise to them and their families and sending them hom after 365 days? This is wrong. This is being done in our names. This is no longer about Iraq. Fighters from the Arab world all over are pouring into Iraq to fight the "occupation". The Iraqi army of the new democracy will not fight. This must tell us something. This is wrong.

This is not the war on terror that many soldiers signed up to fight. This is a war creating terrorists, draining our precious resources (such as the lives of our soldiers), and at what point of a government commiting atrocities will you say no? I admire their courage to leave. If only more Nazi's had listened to their voice of conscience instead of letting themselves be brainwashed.

Eve,

Why can't the rest of America open its eyes? You can see it, I can see it, and the rest of the world can see it. We've seen it all along.

And Bush will deny the draft right up until the envelopes are licked... once a liar, always a liar.

so if they want every man and woman to serve after high school...
here is the trick

Drop out untill you are too old to serve!
then get your GED and move on to college.. start your career when you are 40.....

only one problem... if you arn't in school when you turn 18, you have to serve. This bill was designed to include every single person and alows for only one "loophole" which is the objector. And we allready know that Bush would close that loophole tighter than a midget's asshole (no offence to any midgets or dwarfs who may be reading this)
