Default My training thread

Well, I guess I will be shameless and promote what I am doing in the gym. I am a CrossFit L1 instructor, have taught since 2011 and been involved since 2009. Currently teach at 2 different gyms, mostly just filling in when needed. That said, over the past two years especially I have gained weight back due to not being in the gym enough because of work, not eating right from being on the road, etc, and I decided it was time to do something about it. In January I started lifting more regularly again but not really changing my diet, and now I'm to the point of changing both due to getting back more to where I should be strength-wise.

Right now I'm sitting at 237 lbs, yeah I got heavy, but the good news is I have 170 lbs of lean mass. For my 5'9 height that is an awesome amount of lean mass, I just need to lose the fat. Luckily for me that is pretty easy to get rid of, as in 2012 I lost 17 lbs of just fat in less than 2 months and didn't try as hard then as I am now. Diet is fairly low-carb, but enough to keep in balance, other than that I can pretty much eat what I want.

Training-wise it is strength-biased as I am lifting 3x week and doing metabolic conditioning 4-5 times a week depending on how I feel. Today is an off day which is grand.

Current numbers are:
Press 1x1 185 lbs
Low bar back squat 3x5 290 lbs
deadlift ~365 lbs
bench ~215 lbs

My goal is to keep or up those numbers while bringing my bodyweight down without sacrificing lean mass. We will see in a couple of months where I am when I do another body fat test in the dunk tank.

Wow, good luck with this! I've always wanted to build more muscle because I have problems gaining weight any other way, but I'm just not disciplined enough. Good luck w/ your goal!

I let myself get up to 245, back down to 220 now. Trying to balance lifting and cardio as well due to the same issue of not wanting to lose muscle mass. I'd like to get down to 200, at 6'2", I feel like that is a good muscled weight for me. When I was 185 I was too skinny.
