Default Nader: Seeking celebrity support

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Forget Al Gore and Howard Dean. The endorsement we're watching* today is from Susan Sarandon to Ralph Nader.

Nader returns to the '04 spotlight tonight, traveling to Princeton, New Jersey, for a $100-a-head fund-raiser organized by the state's Green Party and hosted by millionaire attorney Carl Mayer. Mayer, it should be noted, is a former Dem and longtime Naderite who defied his former party by challenging then-vulnerable Rep. Rush Holt in '00 as a Green. (Holt, a Democrat, won that race by 1,101 votes).

Nader has promised to announce within the next several weeks whether he'll run in '04. But in the meantime, he has authorized the Nader 2004 Presidential Exploratory Committee to start raising funds for that race.

I personally like a lot that Nader has to say. Not sure if I'd vote for him, or a candidate I expected had a chance of winning. I would like to see the Green Party get 5% so they'd at least be eligable for federal funding in future elections.

Honestly, I'd like the see the Green party pull off some other political positions before they get the Presidency. They don't have any House or Senate seats, and while I'm not sure what they have in terms of state senate and house seats, I'm pretty sure it's little or none.

I hate to say that someone can't possibly win, but he can't possibly win. Him as a candidate could only divide the left, and I think we learned the lesson that both parties are not the same the hard way. I'd be more concerned that Bush doesn't get elected again.

FUCK THAT PIGFUCKER NADER!!!! NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GORE AND BUSH????? WHAT THE FUCK WAS HE THINKING?

Ok, slightly more lucid: Nader running would be the best thing that ever happened to Bush.

Yeah that is what I thought too. Lesser of two evils. Hmmmnn. My aunt said to me about my voting and working on the Nader campaign (causing Gore to loose votes), "well, we survived the first one, I guess we can survive the second one too."

Woa, sometimes I don't know. Had no idea then how crazy it all would get.

Also, Nader's no angel. Someone here posted a site a while ago of dirt they dug up on him. Some accounts seemed to indicate that he's an autocratic control freak, who doesn't play nice with others, and who won't let people in his various non-profits form unions.

Hmm... intersesting site... has a lot of stuff I sure didn't know. Makes it pretty hard to see who the least of the evils really is, though. I mean, they all seem to be pretty shady.

I don't understand how the Green party gets so much more press than the Libertarian party considering that the LP ( http://www.lp.org/ ) is the largest and most successful third party in the US. They also have one of the most well defined set of ideas for dealing with many of the problems the USA is facing today.

It is pretty hard to understand... I wish the Libertarias would get more press. Of any politial party, I like their way of thinking most of all.
