North Korea
we are signing an agreement with them
not a treaty.. but an agreement saying we wont attack them if they end their nuclear program.. But what happens when north korea tests a nuclear device? (they have already said they plan to)
We will demand they disarm immediately or we go in..
north korea of course would never do such thing..
They also agreed never to build a nuclear device and even let the UN monitor their activities to ensure that such a thing would never happen. All in exchange for a nice bribe, er gift, of fuel oil so their citizens wouldn't all freeze to death. Think they mean what they say this time?

well dubya said in an interview at his texas ranch before he was elected that he would like to see the end of the Saddam Hussein regime and Kim Jong-Il within his term as president. Keep in mind this is before 9-11, and so any 9-11 excuses are just agenda for something he already wanted to do...

I'm curious as to which 40 years those might be.

And for what it's worth, I signed up earlier this week to serve on my local draft board. I'm sure they'll do a background check, where they'll find that I sell T-shirts with the slogan "WAR IS PEACE. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH. GEORGE BUSH IS PRESIDENT." They'll find the weblog account of my participation in the February anti-war march. They'll also find all my Wired magazine and Wired News articles against government surveillance and Bush's energy policy.

Then they're going to tell me that unfortunately, all the positions on my local draft board are filled, and they'll thank me for applying.

But, yes, I really did apply, and yes, assuming that the system is as fucked-up as draft boards traditionally are and they let me on, I will serve. They need someone like me.

Actually, I'm torn between a strategy of deferring everyone, or deferring everyone except middle class white kids. A few hundred thousand college-bound kids, suddenly jerked out of their comfortable lives and sent off to Fort Benning, will bring Bush's support among the middle class down to zero.

So you'd be willing to utilize racism to have your political wishes granted? And as to which 40 years I'm speaking of the 40 years that began with LBJ's great society and the secret little wars that he got us involved in which became Vietnam and Laos. The nation really went downhill thanks to him! That lousy SOB ruined nearly everything he touched and I wish that he were never President.

Absolutely, yes, I am. I am also, incidentally, a registered member of my local Republican Party.
