now isn't the time to go into an extensive debate, but ronald reagan was mostly a puppet for his party. the republican party groomed him carefully, knowing full well that he'd make a good puppet president. some super-fucked up things happened while he was in office, but many people think he was already sick at the time, and wasn't that cognizant of everything going on.

i just wanted to say that much. in general, i strongly agree with mister weaselhead. a very old, very sick man has passed on. and no matter how much you disagreed with his politics, that's cause for a moment of quiet and respect.

It was sad this morning when I heard all the news agencies say that Nancy told Koppel (I think) that he was near the end. I guess he passes before anyone even saw that interview.

Drag. 93 though, not bad.

Nice guys finish allright after all

A moment, sure. But not a lot more than that.

I'll give the man some respect for trying to do what was right and seem to fit the time. The war on drugs was something middle america had pretty much asked for.

And as for his death....

(inserts a moment of silenece for President Reagan and his family)

Whatever I said above may or may not be funny...
whatever is funnier!

And you know... had it not been for his challenge to have the berlin wall torn down..

I would never had had the opportunity to see david hasselhoff wearing some crazy light up jacket dancing around and singing about freedom....

I don't see the need to respect a person simply beacuse of their title. Not every person in a position that's supposed to garner respect derserves it. Actions speak louder than a name. And I can respect the actions of a person while not respecting that peson. Like Killshot said, the pressure to tear down the Berlin Wall, I'm gonna say: good thing. But I think things like the Iran-Contra dealings and the giagantic military buildup aren't very respectable actions. Reagan's bads far outweighed his goods.

And Bush has to be one of the most dishonest, lying, disrespectable men to ever sit in the White House, too. There'll be no sadness in my heart when he's gone. I'd rather it was after he's out of office though, just so Dick won't be the official president.

Thanks to TV and for the convenience of TV, you can only be one of two kinds of human beings, either a liberal or a conservative.

lets not forget the "reagan crazies" that are on our streets to this day instead of getting the mental help they need

or how the schoiol lunch program was cut and reagan said that ketchup was now to be considered a vegetable

i always remember a bit from a documentary. Reagan didn't say AIDS in public until the second to last year of his 2nd term and he never acknowledged that it was a crisis or epidemic.

"If you live in the twentieth century you do not find it hard to see yourself in those, more desperate than yourself, who seek to shape it to their will."

"Fuck the orphans! If they were worth a damn, somebody would care for them. And if somebody cared for them, they wouldn't be orphans. Somebody's gonna eat those little fuckers and it's either you or the C.H.U.D.s. C.H.U.D.s who, it goes without saying, are in this country illegally."
