Default Hillary running for president in '08

I didn't think she would actually do it.

I would love to see America with a woman president... just not Hillary.

I can't stand her.

I'd rather vote for Bush.

Uhhh... you hate her that much? I don't even know what her platform is.

She seems like a bit of an egomaniac and I HATE political dynasties... but really, worse than Bush?

Anyway... I'll here what she has to say. I would just hate for an actually good candidate to loose the primaries just because a famous ex-first-lady is in the running. Does everyone remember how much conservitives hated this woman before, and that's just when she was living with the president.

As one of the libertarian bloggers I read noted:

"If she gets the Democratic nomination in 2008, you'll have to go back 32 years for a U.S. presidential election that didn't have a Bush or a Clinton on one of the two major party tickets.

I don't find that to be particularly healthy.

Also, I stand by the prediction I made during the 2004 election: Someone with negatives like Hillary's can only get elected president under a very defined set of circumstances. Basically, the electorate has to be so fed up with the party occupying the White House that they'll vote for whomever the opposing party puts up. With Bush's approval ratings setting record lows each week, it looks like we're well on our way"

You folks know that Rudy Giuliani is looking into running for President in '08?

Quoting something I wrote to a friend of mine the other day (so some of it may not seem entirely appropriate to this conversation, but I don't feel like retyping all of it):

"I could probably vote for Giuliani, and he would probably win. I'm predicting that nothing in this country is really going to change between now and the next Presidential election. Because of this, the Democrats will not really be able to say they "fixed" the country, and they'll come to the table with another "we aren't the Republicans" platform, which WILL NOT get them the Presidency. After winning the majority in Congress, they can't exactly complain that the Republicans are keeping them from legislating, so they'll no longer have that "excuse."

Obama is going to have to deal with the fact that he is black (I think) and has a really unfortunate name, evoking two different people that are on America's shit list (though I guess Saddam isn't really there anymore. Woohoo!). I don't think that the American people are likely to elect a black president yet. OTOH, Hillary is looking more and more likely to run, and she'll probably garner a lot of the female vote, but lose a lot of the male vote, and she seems like a VERY polarizing candidate. There isn't any middle ground with people I talk to: they either love her or hate her. I don't really think either of them has a real chance.

The Republicans have to put up someone who isn't tied closely to the Bush family, IMHO. An outsider (NOT in the current cabinet) would be preferable. Giuliani would be about perfect. He's been instumental in cleaning up what used to be the murder capital of the USA, and he's so well liked that he's managed to get elected, as a Republican, in one of the most Democratic cities in the USA. If he ran for President, without any HUGE scandals coming up between now and then, I think he'll win in a landslide. Especially if the Democrats don't stop their infighting and develop a worthwhile platform. "

I'd rather vote for a Libertarian, but if Giuliani ran, I could vote for him. OTOH, if Hillary won, I think I'd predict more assassination attempts than any president in history, but I don't think she can win.

More on this (not trying to hijack the original topic):

Just run a search for giuliani and president in Google and read away. He's a popular guy, as if anyone needed to be told that.

And, the official site: http://www.joinrudy2008.com/

Is is just me... or is it strange that people are allready deciding who they would (theoreticly) vote for? No one has come out yet with any kind of platform. No one has yet stated what they plan to do as president. No one has mentioned what they might do to make the country better.

I feel sometimes like I'm back in high school. People are deciding votes based of some fucked-up popularity contest and not on any sort of factual basis. I like Obama a lot, but he's got to give me some info before I'm even going to think about voting for him... or anyone else for that matter.

It just seems strange that everyone (and this is probbably always true) are jumping on or off bandwagons when nothing of any substance has been given to the public.

So... I reserve all my thoughts on who anyone should vote for untill the candidates actaully start telling people what they stand for and what they plan to do.
