Default 2 year old falls into pit of wild african dogs in Pittsburgh zoo

I am often surprised how little separates people from the animals in these zoos.

People are stupid, you can not expect a simple railing to prevent them from ending up being eaten.

I don't know if I agree about this being a safety issue, this is a dumb people issue. Dumb people will find a way to do something stupid regardless of safety precautions. That said, there may be some things the zoo can do to make the exhibit less accessible to people being idiots. I just hope they don't put down the dogs that are an endangered species. This is in no way their fault regardless.

I know its a dumb people issue.
But that little kid was not the dumb one in this situation.
He couldnt see.. His mom decided to balance him on a railing..

5 or 6 feet of plexiglass would help do the job.

Yeah. It's not the kid's fault either. I have no idea how much it would cost to plexiglass all the exhibits like that, but I'd wager that it's a ton of money, I don't know if the zoo could afford to do it all and keep prices low enough for people to still go. I'd have to crunch the numbers. You'd think a sign would suffice, but some people...

Yes, but there are PLENTY of signs all around the zoo about not climbing, leaning on, sitting on railings. It's common sense not to put babies up there because well....this happens. Very few of the exhibits there have short fences like this. I go there frequently and always see people putting small children up there anyways. I yell at them.

Maybe you should throw their kids in to teach them a good lesson about putting them up on the railings.
